It's time for "Olio Nuovo" at the B & B La Piana
Among the warm colors of autumn and the days that are still pleasantly warm, the olive harvest season opens and the "Nuovo" oil is pressed, made by the skilled hands of Tuscan Doc who have been involved in this activity for generations.
The squeezing of new olives is definitely one of the symbols of our territory, and a real ritual that has been renewed for thousands of years and continues to fascinate us at all ages.
From September to December, the Buggiano countryside around our bed and breakfast is populated by lovers of the land and olive trees, often accompanied by young people and children who "live" our land and our customs, and who take care of the harvest with methods manual or mechanical to get a genuine and excellent product.
With a bitter and "pinching" taste, the new oil (extra virgin olive oil) is characterized by a color that varies from intense green to light yellow, depending on the harvesting area and the degree of ripeness of the olives.
Our oil of Buggiano is really perfect to taste on a slice of toasted bread on the grill or in the oven and rubbed with a clove of garlic (the one we call "fettuntao" in Tuscany), maybe sitting between one olive tree and admire the landscape! If you have never tried it, we invite you to do it as soon as possible, because you do not know what you are missing !!
